The problem is, when we look at the ingredients list on the back, we can’t pronounce anything and we really don’t know what we are putting on our bodies.

Coconut oil sugar scrub for soft skin

This is perfect to make and use as we get closer to summer. It will help dull and dry skin.

The sugar gently exfoliates dead skin cells, while coconut oil deeply hydrates, leaving skin smooth and glowing.

What you need:

  • 1\2 cup of softened coconut oil

  • 1 cup of sugar (white or brown)

  • A few drops of vitamin E oil (optional)

If your skin needs an energetic boost, you can add 1 tablespoon of coffee grounds - this makes it smell amazing!

How to use it:

Massage onto damp skin in the shower using circular motions, then rinse off.

Pro tip: Use this 1 or 2 times a week.

Make this fresh each time you want to use it.

Coconut oil hair mask

Since coconut oil is deeply nourishing and is the best oil to use on your hair for repairing damage. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft, helping to reduce protein loss and add shine.

What you need:

  • 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 3 drops of argan oil

How to use it:

Apply to the mid lengths and ends of your hair. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then wash out thoroughly with shampoo.

Coconut oil lip balm

Store bought lip balms are full of chemicals and having these chemicals around your mouth means you are probably ingesting them.

Coconut oil is natural and many people cook with it, so i feel a lot safer with this on my lips!

What you need:

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon beeswax

  • Optional: a pinch of beetroot powder for a natural tint

  • A small tin or container

How to use it:

Melt the ingredients together, pour into your tin or small container, and let it set. The beeswax will help give this the balm texture. Apply whenever you need it.

Pro tip: You can add a drop off peppermint oil for a tingly, plumping effect.

When shopping for coconut oil, choose a glass jar and avoid the plastic jars.
