The Ayurvedic face mapping guide for clear skin

Your skin is a reflection of what is happening inside of your body. Similarly, acne and skin conditions on your face, usually have a deeper cause.

In Ayurveda, your face is a reflection of your internal world, it shows: your digestion, your stress levels, your hormones, and your energy.

Instead of using make up as a solution to cover up blemishes and other issues, i am going to share with you what you can do to heal the root cause so that you can heal your skin for good.

Forehead breakouts

Stress, digestion, and overthinking

If you are experiencing forehead breakouts, Ayurveda links this to:

  • Poor digestion

  • Irregular eating habits

  • Mental overwhelm

This is classic Vata imbalance energy.

If you are experiencing forehead breakouts often, try this:

  • Drink warm water instead of cold

  • Eat meals at consistent times and avoid eating too late at night - aim to stop eating at 8pm

  • Reduce cold and raw foods, especially in the morning

  • Put away the phone in the evening and focus on a calming night routine

Forehead acne is your body telling you to slow down and nourish it - you don’t need to try more skin care.

Cheek breakouts

Lungs, emotions, and environment

Your cheeks are connected to your respiratory system and emotional health.

Breakouts here can reflect:

  • Environmental stress (pollution, dirty pillowcase, phone contact)

  • Suppressed emotions

  • Shallow breathing

If you often suffer from cheek breakouts, try this:

  • Change your pillowcase weekly, opt for materials like silk or 100% cotton

  • Get fresh air throughout your day and let your skin take make up break days, let it breathe

  • Process any emotions that you are suppressing, you can try journaling and meditation. If you feel something come up in the moment, let it out

  • Wash your make up brushes and sponges often

Beauty thrives in calm and clean environments.

✨Nose & T zone breakouts

Digestion, liver, and heat

If your nose or t-zone is constantly congestion or breaking out, and this often is a pitta imbalance which means there is too much heat in the body.

This can show up as:

  • Inflammation

  • Excess oil

  • Sensitivity or redness

  • Painful blemishes

To help with this:

  • Reduce spicy, fried, or overly processed foods

  • Add cooling foods to your diet (cucumber, aloe, mint, coconut)

  • Reduce caffeine and sip warm herbal teas instead

Chin & jawline

Hormones and emotional holding

This is is one of the most common breakout areas for women. Breakouts here are usually connected to your cycle.

Breakouts in this area can also be linked to:

  • Hormonal fluctuations

  • Stress and control patterns

  • Emotional tension

If you often experience breakouts here:

  • Regulate sleep patterns and prioritize rest

  • Support your cycle with teas and nourishing foods

  • Let go of what you can’t fix or control

  • Start your day with warm water with a lemon slice in it

  • Stay consistent with vitamins and supplements

Dull, dry, flaky skin

Dehydration, vata imbalance, and lack of nourishment

If your skin feels tight, dull, and lifeless, Ayurveda sees this as dryness in the body.

This can come from:

  • Not enough healthy fats

  • Dehydration

  • Doing too much with little rest

  • Putting everything and everyone before yourself

Try doing a little more of this:

  • Cooking with healthy fats (ghee, avocado oil, olive oil)

  • Practice Abhyanga (self massage with warm oil) before showering

  • Slow your mornings down

  • Practice gentle movement like yoga

  • Adding a pinch of Baja salt to your water to keep you hydrated
