Soft, buttery, and perfect every time!

I have been making chocolate chip cookies for years. I think i have tried over 50 different recipes! Some have turned out amazing and some not so much, but out of all of the recipes, i have perfected my own.

I love making cookies as gifts for people, i love throwing them together when we have company coming over, and i love making them on a cozy evening when my family asks for something sweet.

Save this recipe and try these when you get that itch to bake something.

🍪 Why this recipe works

This chocolate chip cookies are perfectly balanced.

They have:

  • Soft centers with lightly crisp edges

  • A rich, buttery flavor that doesn’t feel heavy

  • Easy to customize depending on what you are craving

Once you have tried this, you will want to make them over and over again.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of butter - I like to use salted

  • ½ cup of granulated sugar

  • 1 cup of brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips

Instructions:

One: Cream the butter and sugars

In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Two: Add eggs and vanilla

Mix in one egg at a time, then add the vanilla extract. The mix should look smooth and creamy.

Three: Combine dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Four: Bring it all together

Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Don’t over mix.

Five: Fold in the chocolate chips

Gently stir in your chocolate chips.

Six: Chill (optional, but so worth it)

For thicker, evenly spread, bakery style cookies, chill the dough in the fridge for around 30-60 minutes.

Seven: Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F (175 C)

  • Scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet ( I always put parchment paper down first)

  • Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until edges are golden

Cool slightly before serving.

Cozy variations to try

For a little change, once you have made the base recipe, instead of the chocolate chips you could try:

  • Adding white chocolate and freeze dried raspberries - Sooooo good!

  • Sprinkling flaky sea salt on the top before baking

  • Adding chopped nuts and chocolate chips

  • Replacing one cup of flour with oatmeal for an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie
