If you want to feel better in your own skin, you will love this blog post! I used to hate looking at myself without make up, i didn’t know that i could accept how i look without it, until i started using these beauty rituals in the morning.

This is a topic that not many women talk about, but most of us experience at some point in our lives. We have all been there, quickly making up our faces just so that people don’t see us without make up, or not feeling beautiful when we are bare faced. I know that i used to be so afraid of anyone seeing me without make up. It was like i always wanted the world to see my at my best and it was… exhausting.

It also said a lot about my self acceptance. Why did i feel less than if i didn’t feel pretty? As i have gotten older, i now see that poring love into myself through beauty rituals, not only ignited my self love, but also helped me to see that i wasn’t any less beautiful without make up, i just needed to nourish my body and skin in the morning.

This is what Ayurveda has taught me, and i feel called to share this with you.

The truth is, all the make up i the world can’t make you glow. It really isn’t about the make up, it is about circulation, hydration, and how you treat and talk to yourself when no one is looking. My purpose with this blog is for women to know how beautiful they really are, not to society standards, but real beauty, which is so much deeper. I want to pull the true inner beauty out of us all!

How much better would the world be if we all saw ourselves as whole, and beautiful!

That is what i want to teach.

In Ayurveda, beauty is a reflection of balance within the body. When your digestion, sleep, and daily rhythms are in harmony, your skin looks brighter, your eyes clearer, and your true beauty shines.

Here are my simple morning beauty rituals to help you radiate.

One: Wake up before the rush

A calm face, starts with a calm mind. If you are waking up just in time and then rushing around for the next few hours, it will create stress in your whole body. Stress is the number one factor in aging!

Try waking up one hour before anyone else in your home:

  • Meditate for 10 minutes.

  • Do some light movement.

  • Journal out any negative thoughts.

  • Journal out your to do list for the day.

  • Shower and get ready without stress.

If that seems like a lot, you can journal out your week on Sunday mornings instead.

Waking up before my children has literally changed my whole life, i have been doing it for around 7 years!

In Ayurveda, the early morning (around sunrise) is ruled by Vata energy - light, fresh, and clear.

Waking up at this time will help your body feel more alert. If you wake up after 8am you are moving into Kapha energy which is why you feel heavy, sluggish, and groggy.

Waking up earlier can literally change how your whole face looks!

two: Hydration

I can not stress how important hydration is first thing int the morning. A glass of warm water in the morning, before anything else, will help slowly wake up digestion and flush out toxins.

This helps with:

  • Puffiness

  • A sluggish digestive system

  • Dull skin

Good skin starts in the gut.

For an extra boost try adding a slice of lemon to your water.

Three: Tongue scraping

Everyone i know will tell you how much i believe in tongue scraping! In fact, my non morning ritual husband has also started to do it every morning!

In Ayurveda, the tongue holds onto toxins from digestion. If you don’t remove these toxins, they will just reabsorb into the body.

It also supports:

  • Fresher breath

  • Clearer skin

  • Better digestion

Like i said above, better digestion means better skin.

Four: Cold water splash

Cold water has been proven to reduce puffiness, tighten skin, and boost circulation. It will also help to wake up your face and make it seem like you have been up for hours.

Splash cold water on your face around 5-10 times.

Note: I skip this in the winter when it is really cold in the mornings. Instead, i use face globes that i keep in my fridge.

Five: Abhyanga (face massage)

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic oil massage. It is one of the best kept beauty secrets.

It doesn’t need to be long - just a 2 to 3 minutes face massage every morning.

Use natural oils like rosehip or sweet almond oil.

Massage gently in an upwards motion with your fingers or a Gua Sha tool:

  • Cheeks

  • Jawline

  • Forehead

This helps:

  • Improve circulation

  • Reduce fine lines

  • Bring out your natural glow

Note: If you use a Gua Sha tool choose materials like Jade, rose quartz, onyx crystal, or stainless steel. I use a rose quartz Gua Sha for an extra boost of self love.

Six: Keep skincare simple

Over loading your face with products will actually just add chemical weigh to your face.

Focus on:

  • A gentle cleanser

  • A hydrating toner or mist

  • A lightweight

The goal is fresh, calm, and dewy.

Once a week you can try this mask.

The real secrets to looking awake

It really isn’t about fixing your face. It is about supporting your body as a whole.

When you:

  • Sleep well

  • Wake up in alignment to your natural rhythm

  • Support your digestion

  • Move your body

  • Use natural sunlight

Your already beautiful face will reflect it!
