I am so excited to bring you my monthly edit for October! All of the things i have been loving in October in one place 🖤

I always get asked about the things i am using and buying each month from my readers, which led me to creating this blog post! If you like it, let me know and i will create one each month.

If October had a theme, for me it would be self care, and narrowing down on the little rituals that bring me joy. I am someone who tends to not enjoy the colder months. I always use them to hibernate, but i want to be someone who makes the most of each month and the energy it brings.

My October was a busy one. My children are in sports almost everyday, i did a huge decluttering in my basement, we had Canadian Thanksgiving, and i put my garden to rest.

Here is a little round up of my October, let’s start with my home.

Antique gold

In October i have been loving gold accents in the home. I also made it my mission to not buy new, but instead thrift and seek out gold accented home decor in antique stores. If i can give something i find antiquing a new life and purpose, i am here for it.

Gold accents just give any home that luxurious upgrade. In my years of Feng Shui consulting i discovered that gold emits the energy of abundance. It not only looks pretty, but has an energy that serves a purpose.

I found a gold tray while at a local antique store and i love it. I am looking for ways to style it, but it will probably be tray to contain my keys and other daily items.

What i smell like

I actually don’t wear perfume, or spray myself with scents, but i do love a good perfume oil. I like to apply it to my neck and wrists after i shower and after i moisturize my skin.

I have also fallen back in love with using products from the Body Shop. Growing up in England, i grew up with using the Body Shop products and i still love them to this day. My current favorite body butter is the strawberry one, it smells heavenly! The vitamin e cleanser form the body shop, is also a must have. I am always looking for a gentle cleanser, i normally use rice cleansers or make my own skincare, but the vitamin e cleanser is gentle and hydrating for winter.

The perfume oil i am wearing is called vanilla sugar and it is made by Sand and Fog. It smells sweet but not overly sweet, and it is a scent that works for everyday, no matter the weather. If you like Kayali vanilla candy rock sugar 42, then you will love this.

Suede purses

I am usually a leather purse girl but i recently bought my first suede purse. It has been a learning curve, but with the right protective spray, i feel good about taking it out of the house!

My favorite color is emerald green but this shade of olive green comes in a close second. Now, i am currently looking for other purses in this color. The purse pictured i found at a Kate Spade outlet, 90% of my purses are Kate Spade, i may have a slight obsession.

I just love the croc skin detail and the gold hardware. Read about the energy of a new purse here.

What i am wearing

My body changed so much after having children and it has taken me a while to love my new shape. I have more of an hour glass figure that has taken me some time to love.

In October i discovered that peplum style tops actually look great on me and make me feel the most confident. Most recently on my trip to winners, i found some peplum knitwear that i want to live in. I have a small waist but then bigger on the hips and peplum style tops make that look good!

I am also someone that will wear black 90% of my days, but i starting to lean towards clothes in chocolate brown shades to soften my features and black hair.

Are you into astrology? I uploaded my birth details into Chat GPT, and learnt that my Venus sign is in Taurus, i am also a Taurus from my birth month, and grounded earth shades look best on me.

Jewelry

When i was 5 i got my ears pierced and after having children in my 20’s, i stopped wearing earrings. At the beginning of October i saw the prettiest ivy leaf silver studs and made the decision to get my ears pierced again. I ordered the earrings and i am patiently waiting until my 3 weeks is up so that i can change them!

I am a huge Lydia Millen fan, and she has a new collaboration with British jewelry designer, Carrie Elizabeth. I am not someone who typically wears a lot of jewelry, besides my wedding rings, but i now love a cute pair of studs.

Even though i live in Canada and i love to support Canadian made, i do still like to support small British businesses too when i can. Plus, just knowing that some of the things i wear daily come from England, just makes me feel good.

Accessories

Sticking with my new found love for chocolate brown, i have just ordered a new faux croc skin phone case in this color. My current phone case looks like it has been through 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, and i also wanted to choose a color that will go with everything i have.

Whenever i buy something i need, i have a tendency to use it until i wear it out completely before i buy something new again. That is why i like to buy things that are good quality, i feel like it saves me money overall.

What i am growing

I know gardening season is over, but i like to do little experiments inside my home. Last year i grew cherry tomatoes all winter on my sunniest window sill, and this year i am attempting carrots! So far they have just grown their second set of leaves and i am tending to them just like i would if they were outside. Since we homeschool, we turn growing projects into experiments and my children really enjoy this.

A few weeks ago, i also just bought my first cyclamen plant. She is in a pretty terracotta bowl on my coffee table and thriving. I did some research on cyclamen plants and found that they are pretty low maintenance. They have pretty flowers that will die off and regrow almost like an orchid.

My watering schedule for her is simply a good watering every Friday. She also seems to love all of the indirect sunlight in my living room.

I have been looking for ways to update my coffee table and the one thing i always add is plants. I am currently on the lookout for a new coffee table tray, but i haven’t found one that i love yet.

What i cooked

October was filled with baked treats from cookies to red velvet cupcakes. I also focused on cooking from scratch and making a cooked breakfast for my children every morning. With a week packed with sports and other activities, a good breakfast has become so important for us.

My children do prefer a sweet breakfast, but i also snuck in as much protein as i could.

Some things we made were:

  • French toast with maple syrup, fruit, and a side of turkey bacon.

  • Pancakes and a side of scrambled eggs.

  • Greek yogurt bowls. Greek yogurt topped with Chia seeds, blueberries, peanut butter and honey was a favorite.

Coffee recipe

October was the month that i perfected my coffee recipe. I used to be a drop of Vanilla almond creamer in my coffee, but i wanted something that just felt like a bit more effort.

My favorite moment of the day is my morning coffee, i spent all of October trying to find the best recipe.

Here is is:

  • 1\4 cup of half and half creamer

  • 1 tbsp gingerbread syrup

  • 1tsp Vanilla coffee syrup

  • A pinch of sea salt

  • 8 ounces of coffee

I always put the creamer in my mug with the syrups and salt first, then make it very frothy with a coffee frothier, then once it is nice and foamy, i pour in the hot coffee. I am now even more excited to wake up everyday!

Walking

Admittedly, i had slacked all September with my exercise routine. I was working out at least 3 times a week in the summer and then September came, and with the start of homeschooling, and other activities, so i stopped.

In October i got back into moving my body 3 times a week. I love to walk and have a walking pad in my basement, so i am walking for half an hour each morning, 15 of those minutes holding light weights. I am on a mission to be in the best shape of my life by the time i am 40 (May 2027)

That is my round up of things that rocked my world in October! I would love to hear how October was for you! If you see something you like but don’t find a link, please message me! Although i am not an affiliate for some of these products, i will still share things i genuinely love.
